To standout in a highly competitive pub and restaurant market in Saint John, New Brunswick, a new eatery would have to offer something above and beyond the traditional pub experience. Business partners Trevor Pierce and Peter Stoddard approached Breakhouse to create a new genre of pub that would be bustling both during the day and into the night with an appeal to all ages; families, students, professionals young and old. 

The Ale House is a contemporary take on the traditional pub employing set design as a strategy to celebrate rustic details in a modern way. Bold graphics and an innovative use of a simple material palette create a space of grand presence conductive to a socially spirited atmosphere. Since opening in 2003, The Ale House has far exceeded the owners’ expectation in both patronage and profit.
